Character Background:  An amateur geologist, Sir Ralph Maddock spent most of his life performing the duties of a country noble on the Summer Island. His days were filled with servants, officiating festivals and hearings, collecting interesting mineralogical samples and texts... until he discovered the ruins in the caverns beneath his estate. Their eerie green glow and strange non-Euclidean geometric designs haunt his dreams to this day.

Now, after an unfortunate series of events and a tragic expedition to the North Pole, Sir Ralph languishes in a lovely institution in Canada among the pine trees and well manicured lawns. There, the nice men in the white coats make sure he is safe and the nurses and attendants care for his every need. Sir Ralph is also now always accompanied by his good friend Brock.

Brock is a small, polished, black ovoid with a rambunctious spirit. He also scores very high on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness.
